Oberthur Fiduciaire’s history has been both rich and remarkable. Jean-Pierre Savare, a natural entrepreneur developed his business in different secure technological activities over the years before finally deciding in December 2011 to focus on its core business: security printing.

Oberthur printing was founded by François-Charles Oberthur in Rennes
Oberthur began printing banknotes when the Banque de France had difficulty obtaining supplies and turned to Oberthur for assistance
Jean-Pierre Savare took over the security printing activity and named it François-Charles Oberthur
Creation of FCO Lorraine, specialized in cheques
Creation of FCO Card Systems
Creation of François-Charles Oberthur Chèques et Sécurité
Acquisition of Axytrans which became Oberthur Cash Protection
Acquisition of BABN, specialized in scratch cards, which becomes Oberthur Gaming Technologies in 1999
Creation of Oberthur Smart Cards
Acquisition of De La Rue Card Systems and creation of Oberthur Card Systems
